The State Secretaiat for R & D has awarded nine new distinctions for ‘City of Science and Innovation’ corresponding to the 2015 edition, including Almussafes. Last July, on 13 December, the mayor traveled to Madrid to personally get the official distinction which places the city at the forefront of innovation, along with 61 other Spanish municipalities. Over the next three years, Almussafes will collaborate with some of the three working groups that are part of the Innpulso Network, together with the European program Horizon 2020 and the Spanish Strategy for Science and Technology and Innovation.
The award has been a real boost of energy for the government since Almussafes will be one of the top cities which will support infrastructure investments that promote economic sustainability. As it was announced at the ceremony, there have been three factor they took into account when choosing Almussafes: the amount of industrial infrastructure, promoting an advanced internal organization in the council and a great commitment to the Strategic Plan 2016-2020 to promote employment.
