The city of Valencia prepares to honor its patroness and perpetual mayoress. The feast of La Virgen de los Desamparados will start next weekend and will have its climax on Sunday, when the transfer and procession of La Mare de Déu will take place continuing on wednesday 24th with the hand-kissing.
The Basilica of La Virgen de los Desamparados will host the next May 24th the public hand-kissing to the patroness of Valencia in which everyone will be able to participate, openly and uninterrupted, from 7 am, all the devotees who wish it. The pilgrim image of La Virgen de los Desamparados will be located in the center of the main altar, at the entrance of the presbytery of the Basilica, at the same height as the people who come to kiss her hand.
Likewise, the temple will remain open until the end of the passage of devotees, whose number last year exceeded 30,000 people, and as long as the faithful walk the original image of La Virgen de los Desamparados presiding over the main altar will remain turned to her dressing room, where ordinary worship will take place throughout the day. The visits will be made on a first come, first served basis, with the mediation and attention of several members of La Hermandad de Seguidores de la Virgen and the Court of Honor of La Mare de Déu.
