Festivern 2017

Festivern is a musical festival that has been celebrated since 2004 on an annual basis in the last days of December, on the occasion of the New Year’s Eve. This festival has been organized in several localities of the Valencian Country, always from the central regions and mostly Valencian groups have performed and sing in Valencian.

The first edition was in Pedreguer (La Marina Alta) in the end of the year of 2004, and since then it has been organized in several locations except in 2009 when the organization suspended it due to the difficulties to find a space suitable. The editions of 2005 and 2006 were held in Ontinyent (Vall d’Albaida), then Benifairó de la Valldigna (La Safor) in 2007, Alcoy (l’Alcoià) in 2008, Gandia (la Safor) in 2010  and Tavernes de la Valldigna (la Safor) in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The objectives of the Festivals are the promotion and normalization of music in Valencian, the promotion of novice groups in this language, the dissemination of root and author music, and the presentation of new musical tendencies, as well as the integration of the festival within the cultural and festive environment of the town where it is celebrated every year.

The acceptance on the part of the public has been growing edition after edition consolidating the Festival like a festival fixed to the calendar of the music in Valencian. So much so that as of the third edition (in 2006), it extended the concert days and the number of participating groups.
