The Christmas Handicraft Fair returns to Valencia, and it does so with different stands where you can buy an infinity of products, on such important dates as Christmas.
One more year the streets of Valencia are filled with markets and Christmas fairs in Valencia where you can buy gifts and traditional decoration of these dates. One of the classic dates of Christmas in Valencia is the Christmas Handicraft Fair, organized by the Association of Valencian Artisans (Arteval).
The XVI edition of the Handicraft Fair in Valencia has 27 stands of handicrafts from Valencia, which are installed in the ‘Plaza de la Reina’, next to the Cathedral and the Miguelete, from December 1 to January 7, 2018. The choice of this place is not pure chance, because since before Jaime I and the Christian Conquest, there was already a market of craftsmen and crafts in this same place, thus maintaining a tradition that survives every year as it can fighting against the great trade and against himself, since there are fewer and fewer young people who venture to continue crafts as a way of life.
The traditional nativity scene of the Town Hall (which was installed every year in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and which was donated to the city of Valencia by the Guild of Falleros Artists as thanks after the withdrawal of the payment of taxes for some works in ‘La Ciudad del Artista Fallero’), is placed again in this place, next to the esplanade of nearby grass, under the beautiful picture of the Cathedral. It also highlights, for the third consecutive year, the sponsored Christmas tree that is located next to the traditional Bethlehem.
